A total of 15 foreign airports in six countries currently offer the system. US authorities say they wish to expand the number of countries and airports this year.
Pre-clearance means that the same procedures regarding immigration, customs, and agriculture inspections of international air passengers can be completed before departure at foreign airports instead of on arrival, according to US officials.
