Hewlett Packard Enterprise ( NYSE : HPE ) announced today that its Enterprise Services business secured a $600 million agreement with Sykehuspartner, an ICT service provider serving the eleven health trusts in Norway’s Southern and Eastern regional health authority (Helse Sør-Øst). The agreement will help transform and modernize the ICT infrastructure of Helse Sør-Øst health region to improve patient safety and free up resources for patient care.

HPE will work with Sykehuspartner, who will remain the main provider of services to Helse Sør-Øst, to provide infrastructure operations and project services. HPE will also partner with Accenture and several local Norwegian companies who will assist with transforming and running the operations for Sykehuspartner.

The agreement will include the transformation of the hosting infrastructure, workplace environments, network and telecom environments, security and service management. The solution will provide Helse Sør-Øst with a stable and modern infrastructure platform, which will support the regional health applications and services.

“Patient care is our priority. We manage a large number of assets and resources on behalf of the community and it’s our duty to ensure we use these resources as effectively as possible,” said Cathrine M. Lofthus, CEO of Helse Sør-Øst RHF.

This agreement is part of the Digital Modernization program which commenced in 2013 as part of the strategy led by Helse Sør-Øst. The purpose of the Digital Modernization program is to enable the renewal and standardization of work processes and technology across the region.

“Healthcare providers are looking for more flexibility and security with their IT solutions to enable them to harness technology to improve patient care and safety,” said Mike Nefkens, executive vice president & general manager, Enterprise Services, Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

“The new infrastructure platform will provide the foundation for future healthcare services and improve services to Trusts, hospitals, clinicians and ultimately patients in the region.”
