“When we’re approached by a company, the first thing we always have to establish is what the company wants to achieve, and what they actually need. That’s absolutely essential when trying to find them the ideal candidate,” Birger M. Svendsen, managing partner at Boyden in Oslo says.

When working on identifying clients’ needs, Boyden’s approach often involves aspects of consultancy to establish who the perfect candidate is, and perhaps even more importantly, why.

“We work hard to determine the company culture as well as looking at what the clients want to achieve when hiring a new leader. It´s all about identifying the person who can provide the qualities needed to take the clients in the direction they want to go,” Svendsen says.

Having determined the clients’ strategy and desired direction and subsequently the potential candidate’s required qualities, Boyden’s vast infrastructure of sources and networks are researched to find suitable candidates to approach.

“The initial candidate list is generated and our associates eventually prepares a confidential candidate assessment report, which is subsequently presented to the client. When a client chooses the preferred candidates, we also assist with the interview process, as well as support the client throughout the selection process,” Svendsen says.

Boyden are based in Oslo and Stavanger in Norway and has been a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Norway since 2007.
