AmCham Norway’s 23rd Annual Golf Tournament

Generously sponsored by Oracle and PwC, the AmCham Golf Tournament celebrated its 23rd anniversary at Asker Golf Club, bringing together 23 teams comprised of 92 players from all sectors of Norway’s international business community to network and compete for the coveted Søderstrøm Cup and a top prize of round trip tickets to the US from Icelandair.

The tournament’s format, Texas Scramble and special hole competitions – kept golfers on their toes and ensured everyone had a great day “at work!”

Gathering for the first time at Asker’s beautiful course, the weather played on our side after a turbulent summer weatherwise. Players kept cool in the sun, enjoying refreshing beverages throughout the day, courtesy of Coca-Cola and enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner buffet al fresco.

In a close team competition, WTW came in first place and walked away with the tournament cup, four round trip tickets from Icelandair to any of their US destinations, as well as prizes provided by AmerikalinjenHelly Hansen, signed copies of Suzann “Tutta” Pettersen’s book, and AmCham whiskey glasses.

Determined by handicap, First House came in second, just ahead of PwC in third. The 2nd and 3rd place winners walked away with prizes from Asker Golf Club, Google, Mondelez, NetJets, Shades of Norway, Starbucks, and Radisson RED.

As in previous years, several individual prizes were also up for grabs. Robert Nash earned the “closest to the pin”  Eleni & Chris hair and skincare set from IC Scandinavia and a gift card for virtual golf at PINPIN Oslo.

Grant Thornton’s Inger Johanna Ystanes won the women’s longest drive, taking home an exclusive gift card for a departure from Avinor’s VIP terminal.  PwC’s Casper Nilsen Moe captured the men’s prize for longest drive, coming away with the second exclusive gift card for a departure from Avinor’s VIP terminal

Three players competed for the final putt off with WTW‘s Klaus Stabell coming out on top, taking home a gift card from Hotel Bristol, a hair and skincare set from IC Scandinavia and a goodie bag from Warner Bros Discovery.

AmCham Norway’s 22nd Annual Golf Tournament

Generously sponsored by Oracle and PwC, the AmCham Golf Tournament celebrated its 22nd anniversary at Hauger Golf Club, bringing together 28 teams comprised of 104 players from all sectors of Norway’s international business community to network and compete for the coveted Søderstrøm Cup and round trip tickets to the US from Norse Atlantic Airways.

The tournament’s format, Texas Scramble and special hole competitions – kept golfers on their toes and ensured everyone had a great day “in the office”.

Gathering for the third and final time at Hauger’s challenging yet picturesque course, this year’s weather could not have been better. Players kept cool in the sun, enjoying refreshing beverages throughout the day, courtesy of Coca-Cola and enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner buffet al fresco.

In a close team competition, PwC came in first place and walked away with the tournament cup, four round trip tickets from Norse Atlantic Airways to any of their US destinations, as well as prizes provided by Anora, Edrington, Helly Hansen, and Mondelez.

Three teams came in just behind with -14. Determined by handicap, KPMG came in second, just ahead of GE Healthcare in third, and Helly Hansen coming in at fourth. The 2nd and 3rd place winners walked away with prizes from Anora, Hauger Golf Club, Grand Hotel Oslo, Oracle, and Shades of Norway.

As in previous years, several individual prizes were also up for grabs. Bayer’s Andreas Røskaft, earned the “Closest to the pin” taking home American wines courtesy of AmCham. Panamera’s Caroline Martens won the women’s longest drive, taking home an Eleni & Chris hair and skincare set from IC Scandinavia. Global Blue’s Elia Hoelstad captured the men’s prize for longest drive, coming away with a ROAM hair and barber set from IC Scandinavia. Five players competed for the final putt off with Per Arne Evensen (Interim Norge) coming out on top, taking home a gift card from Hotel Bristol, American wines and the Viking Arm tool.

AmCham Norway’s 21st Annual Golf Tournament – August 26, 2021

Generously sponsored by Oracle and PwC, the AmCham Golf Tournament celebrated its 21st anniversary at Hauger Golf Club, bringing together the AmCham community for a very welcome, in-person day of spirited competition and socially distanced fun.

The winning teams were awarded bountiful prize packages from Hotel ContinentalTeslaHelly HansenAvinorShades of NorwayJohnny RocketsMondelez, Hotel Bristol, Hauger Golf Club, and IC Scandinavia.

Gathering for the second time at Hauger’s demanding yet scenic course, the weather provided an additional challenge with gusts that sent hats flying. Despite the hurdles, our 28 teams braved the 18 holes, partaking in special competitions along the way. Players were able to enjoy fresh milkshakes at the third hole provided by Johnny Rockets, and refreshing beverages throughout the day, courtesy of Coca-Cola.

At the end-of-play, PwC Team 1 captured the Søderstrøm Cup, with each team member winning a weekend at Hotel Continental, Helly Hansen duffle bags, giant Freia milk chocolate bars, and AmCham Tournament glasses.

Team Ask Mr. Cruise finished in second place, receiving Tesla weekends and merchandise, signature cross-country sunglasses from Shades of Norway, and a complimentary round at Hauger Golf Club. They were followed by Team NATO / GE Healthcare Norway, who took third place after a fantastic round and received OSL Lounge passes courtesy of Avinor, and signature sunglasses from Shades of Norway.

As in previous years, several individual prizes were also up for grabs. PwC’s Karine Bolme earned the closest-to-the-pin prize, taking home American wines and signature sunglasses from Shades of Norway.

Barbara Jaeger won the women’s longest drive, taking home an Eleni & Chris hair and skincare set from IC Scandinavia. Google’s Espen Rustad captured the men’s prize for longest drive, coming away with a ROAM hair and skincare set from IC Scandinavia.

Five players competed for the final putt off with the US Embassy’s Walter Grant taking home American wines and a complimentary gift card from Hotel Bristol for afternoon “tee” for two.

With special guests and former AmCham Director Rolf Roding and his wife Wendy joining us, the tournament ended with a delicious BBQ buffet dinner. As one guest put it, “This is the greatest day I’ve had in the office since Covid!”

AmCham Norway’s 20th Annual Golf Tournament – August 20, 2020

Generously sponsored by PwC, the AmCham Golf Tournament celebrated its 20th anniversary at Hauger Golf Club, bringing together the AmCham community for a very welcome, in-person day of spirited competition and socially distanced fun. The winning teams were awarded exciting prize packages from Amerikalinjen, Tesla, Helly Hansen, Avinor, Shades of Norway, Johnny Rockets, Novelty Food, Hauger Golf Club, and IC Scandinavia.

Hauger’s beautiful course and storied history –hosting professionals such as Seve Ballesteros, Padraig Harrington, Retief Goosen – provided a new and scenic backdrop for this year’s tournament. Accompanied by beautiful weather, players were able to enjoy fresh milkshakes a the third hole provided by Johnny Rockets, ice-cold drinks throughout the day from Coca-Cola, and a chance to win a hotel stay with a Tesla on the tenth hole.  

At end-of-play, team Amerikalinjen came out on top and hoisted the Søderstrøm Cup, with each team member winning a weekend with a Tesla, Tesla goodie bags, Helly Hansen duffle bags, and AmCham Tournament glasses.

Team Helly Hansen finished in second, with each team member receiving complimentary stays for two with breakfast courtesy of Amerikalinjen. They were followed by DLA Piper, who took third place after a fantastic round and received signature sunglasses and alpine skiing goggles from Shades of Norway. The Rob. Arnesen / Johnny Rockets team finished a strong day out on the links in fourth place, with team members each receiving OSL Lounge passes courtesy of Avinor, dinner for two from Johnny Rockets, and green fees courtesy of Hauger Golf Club.

As in previous years, several individual prizes were also up for grabs. After an excellent round, PwC’s Catharina Aasheim walked away with both closest to the pin and longest drive (women’s), taking home gift baskets including chocolates from Novelty Foods and a skincare set from Eleni & Chris. Oracle’s Øyvind Dahl captured the prize for longest drive (men’s), coming away with a ROAM hair and skincare set as well as chocolates from Novelty Food. The final putting competition received a shake-up for the 20th edition of the tournament, leaving all seven finalists competing simultaneously for closest-to-the-pin, with Grant Thornton’s Jan Møller taking home a gift basket including chocolates from Novelty Food.

The tournament ended with a delicious individually plated BBQ meal on Hauger’s expansive, sunny terrace.
