Internship at AmCham Norway

Scope of Work

This volunteer/unpaid internship position will offer you the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience within an established international organization, with a culture that is based on learning and mutual dialogue.

Your tasks and duties may include:

  • Project and event management
    • Support in event planning and execution – including occasional evenings
    • Represent AmCham at events and seminars hosted by our members and partners
    • Facilitate programs for theme-based forums
    • Support annual events (Thanksgiving Charity Dinner, Golf Tournament, etc.)
  • Communications support
    • Assistance with communications, including writing reports, articles, summaries and graphic design when needed
    • Media monitoring for industry / member specific news
    • AmCham member profiling updates
  • Government Affairs support
    • Monitor political developments
    • Gather and organize data for reports
    • Assist drafting of policy memos
    • Conduct research relevant to foreign business in Norway
  • Administrative support
    • General office support and ad hoc projects
    • CRM system maintenance

Qualifications

In addition to an outgoing personality and interest in building networks across a wide range of industries, the successful candidate should have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and proficiency in Norwegian
  • Good organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with CRM systems is a plus
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • A demonstrated interest in Norway-US relations and international business
  • We value creativity, open‐mindedness, and a good sense of humor!

Practical Details

Our offices are in downtown Oslo. This is a flexible part-time unpaid internship with a commitment of 4-8 hours per week minimum, divided between standard in-person office hours and evening events.

Eligibility Requirements

Our interns come from diverse academic backgrounds including public policy, international relations, business administration, communications, journalism, marketing, regional studies, and other technical fields such as healthcare, engineering and energy with a strong interest in business.

Non-Norwegian citizen candidates must possess a valid student visa for the duration of the internship or present a valid residence permit. Further, applicants must be able to commit to interning for at least three months (12 weeks) and be present at the office at least one to two days per week (days can be split into mornings or afternoons to accommodate class schedules).
