Participants of the 2024-2025 edition of the AmCham Mentorship Program attended their second group gathering at Capgemini’s Skøyen office, featuring presentations by hosts Tynlee Roberts and Rune Foyn, and DLA Piper Country Managing Partner Camilla Wollan.

Leadership Communication: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Tynlee Roberts presented “Good to Great leadership,” exploring the various styles of leadership communication- the good, the bad and the ugly. Having lived in multiple countries and experienced a wide range of leadership approaches, she emphasized that an effective leader inspires collaboration, motivates the employees, and strives to foster a strong corporate culture. Moreover, a great leader holds themselves accountable, while unifying and driving their colleagues toward a shared goal.

A Customer-First Mindset Driven by Data

To follow, Rune Foyn presented on a customer-first mindset driven by data. He stressed the importance of turning data into actionable insights and highlighted the role of cross-functional teams in ensuring success.

Rune encouraged business leaders to embrace the change brought by digital transformation, recognizing that while there are good reasons not to be the first mover, the rewards of being first to innovate are even greater. “By leading the way, companies can position themselves to shape the market and stay ahead of competitors.”

Camilla Wollan, Country Managing Partner at DLA Piper, shared her vision of leadership and insights around her experiences. She offered inspiring advice on how to thrive both personally and professionally, highlighting the importance of choosing her own mentors and building trust within her team. Her key points included actively addressing mental barriers and focusing on networking with external partners, stepping out of your comfort zone on social media, and being consistent over time.
