Spring 2018 Communications Internship

Background
The American Chamber of Commerce in Norway (AmCham) is an independent, non-profit business association committed to furthering the development of economic and commercial relations between the United States and Norway. AmCham provides a business, networking and policy forum for our over 240 member companies with transatlantic interests. See www.amcham.no for further information.

 

Scope of Work
We are looking for a communications intern with possibility to start January/February 2018. This volunteer internship position will offer you the chance to gain hands-on communications experience within an established, international organization. You will be responsible for a range of duties including:

  • All steps of publication production –annual reports, newsletters etc. – from research to drafting of articles and other external/internal communications
  • Social media management and media monitoring for industry/member specific news
  • Routine correspondence and member assistance
  • Support in event planning and execution
  • Representing AmCham at events and seminars
  • CRM system maintenance
  • General office support and ad hoc projects

 

Desired Qualifications
In addition to an outgoing personality and interest in building networks across a wide range of industries, the successful candidate should have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and proficiency in Norwegian
  • Past experience in a communications/PR role in a company or organization is a plus
  • Good organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Technical skills including Microsoft Office, social media, and familiarity with CRM systems is a plus
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • A demonstrated interest in Norway-US relations
